Greninja is Batista's Starter when he started Pokemon training. Back when the Kalos Starters were unknown so when Greninja was just a Froakie, people tried getting around him try to steal him or just research him. Thus making him a shy Pokemon. When he evolved however he became Batista's toughest Pokemon and his most trusted ally.

• As a Froakie, Greninja was always shy due to being a Rare Pokemon before Kalos was discovered. He grew out of it once he evolved.
